Economic Development

The US Department of Commerce/Economic Development Administration (EDA) has designated MIDAS Council of Governments and the counties it serves as an Economic Development District (EDD) which makes cities and counties in the district eligible for EDA funding programs.

EDA EDDs must create a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategies (CEDS), a document that identifies economic strategies to guide the region’s economic development.

EDA Funding is also available to EDDs to develop revolving loan funds to provide a financing tool to enhance business assistance programs and services to businesses and communities in the six counties served by MIDAS. MIDAS has two revolving loan funds that were established using EDA funding.
MIDAS also has a Housing Revolving Loan Fund to assist with housing development in the region.
